 Hitler's Family

Hitler's family was very complicated.  His mother Klara Polzl was very loving and protective of young Adolph.  Klara was a very good housekeeper and a good mother.  She was very devoted to her children.  Klara was 23 years younger than her husband, Alois.  However, Alois was not a loving father.

Alois (Adolph's father) was the illegitimate child of Maria Anna Schicklgruber.  The fact that he was illegitimate raises the quesion: Could Hitler have been Jewish?  (Click Here to read more) Maria Anna died when Alois was very young, only five years old.  His first wife was 13 years older than himself.  She died on April 6, 1933.  After this, Alois married a woman named Franziska Matzelsberger.  During this marriage, they took in a foster child named Klara Polzl.  Meanwhile, his second wife, Franziska died.  After her death, Alois married the foster child Klara.  She had four children (F 103).  When Alois was almost 40 years old, his stepfather had his birth certificate changed and accepted paternity.  Thus, Alois' last name was changed from Schicklgruber to Hitler.  (Langer)

Adolph's immediate family included his father's children from his previous marriages - Alois Jr. and a sister Angela.  He also had a brother Edmund and a sister Paula.  Edmund died early on in life.  (Ayer 15)
